Hyundai’s Indian unit said production had resumed at its Chennai plant after police removed 200 striking workers, ending a two-day stoppage the company claimed was illegal.

Hyundai said in a statement that it lost about 3,800 cars from production because of the strike.

The workers at the Hyundai Motor India factory stopped work on Monday demanding that the company reinstate 67 employees fired last year.

The company manufactures eight models in India, five of which are exported. The factory can produce 600,000 vehicles a year.

Hyundai said it will continue talks with the workers’ union and will also seek government help to resolve the issue.
