Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL) saw its 150,000th car roll off its Chennai assembly
line Wednesday (29/11/00) after only two years of production, say Indian news
sources.
Quoting Managing Director YS Kim, local media report that the use of advanced
technology has assisted Hyundai in forging ahead of other competitors within
the car market, resulting in consistent all-round performances by the cars.
Mr Kim said that sales of both the Santro and Accent models had increased between
January-October by 38% compared with the same period last year, from 47,256
to 75,843. The car-maker expects to sell about 85,000 cars by year’s end, surpassing
1999’s total of 60,338 -an increase of 41 per cent.
