Hella is supplying updated battery management systems for the electric vehicle fleet of an unnamed European manufacturer.
Hella has already been supplying battery management systems for the producer since 2016.
In the summer of 2020, the latest generation of high-voltage battery management systems is expected to be launched and integrated into the vehicle manufacturer's e-vehicles and also into full and plug-in hybrids.
"The electrification of mobility is progressing inexorably," said Hella board member for Energy Management, Björn Twiehaus. "We are supporting this trend holistically with our product solutions for all development stages of electromobility.
"The fact we are now equipping the electric fleet of a leading European automobile manufacturer with our battery management systems underlines our strong market position. At the same time, it shows we at Hella will be benefiting long term from the change taking place in the industry."
Battery management systems monitor voltage, temperature and current of lithium-ion batteries. In addition, they implement various safety-relevant functions, including those relating to high voltage.
