Hankook Tire will work with Hyundai Motor and Kia to develop ‘intelligent services for consumables management based on the companies’ data and technologies’. The companies have signed an MoU.

Through this partnership agreement, the companies say they will build a system to exchange data and technologies needed for developing a mobility solution for vehicle operation and management. They will cooperate in not only developing the service but also improving and upgrading it as well as creating new business opportunities.

Hyundai Motor and Kia will share its open vehicle data platform and data from connected cars while Hankook will share tire related data and tyre condition checking technologies with each other, through which companies will jointly ‘develop a solution to precisely measure and predict tyre wear as well as tyre condition’.

In addition, they will futher analyze and process shared and collected data to develop a tyre management service which gives notifications such as when to replace a tyre according to the vehicle model and driver. They are also planning to study how tyre wear and condition changes affect a vehicle’s performance, fuel efficiency and safety.

Hankook, with Hyundai Motor and Kia, will be able to provide a solution for overall vehicle operation and management that gives customized notifications and provides information for safe driving and will also be able to find a new business model.

Hankook plans to provide high quality services to customers based on the various data gained through the strategic cooperation with Hyundai Motor and Kia, and continue making efforts to develop innovative technologies through mutual cooperation and relentless R&D.
