Opel’s works council wants a clear statement from US parent General Motors it does not plan to sell Opel.

Rumours that GM intends to dispose of its German subsidiary emerged at the start of June and GM brushed them off only half-heartedly, Financial Times Deutschland reported.

The supervisory board of Opel, in which GM has four seats, met on Friday.

Some two years ago GM put Opel up for sale but pulled back from the deal at the last moment.
