Volkswagen passenger car deliveries were up 12.1% for the first eight months of 2011 to 3.34m units after rising 9.8% to 389,500 in August.
“We delivered well over 3m vehicles in the period to August for the first time. We are nevertheless keeping a very close eye on developments on the world’s automotive markets,” said sales and marketing head Christian Klingler.
The brand reported a year to date increase of 45.2% in central and eastern Europe, delivering 130,200 (89,700) units and more than doubled deliveries in Russia to 66,900.
