Daimler will extend short-time work into the third quarter of 2009.
The number of employees concerned is still unclear, a spokeswoman told Financial Times Deutschland.
35,000 workers at the company’s passenger car units currently work reduced hours but this is down from 45,000 in the previous month due to incoming major orders, Daimler said.
