Daimler has delayed plans to knock down its old headquarters building in Untertürkheim and replace it.

Because of the uncertain economic outlook and current low sales volumes plans have been stopped. A spokesperson told Automobilwoche that continuing with the plans would give the wrong signal.

Other investments, such as research and development on new future-proof technologies and vehicles continue with some urgency.

It had been planned to knock down the old 13-storey building next year. The new building would have been completed in 2012. No revised date has been scheduled for the building work.
