BMW group sales for the 11 months to the end of November were up over 17% to 976,300 units (compared with 831,900 in 2001).

Compared with 2001, November sales rose 4% to 85,100 cars delivered.

BMW brand sales to the end of November were up 3.4% to 842,600 units though November sales fell by 4.6% to 71,500.

X5 SUV sales for the first 11 months of 2002 rose 24% to 92,900 units.

BMW said that its Mini sales target, several times revised upwards, of 140,000 units for the year “is coming within tangible grasp”. In the first 11 months of the year, almost 134,000 cars have been delivered, comprising 35,250 One, 75,150 Cooper and 23,320 Cooper S models.

The leading Mini market is still Great Britain, where 33,200 have been sold, followed by Germany (22,100) and the USA (21,300).

Asian markets have been the fastest growing for BMW in 2002. Up to the end of November, the highest growing market was again South Korea where sales soared 80% to 4,560. Growth rates are similar in China (including Hong Kong) where sales of 8,470 units were 59% up on 2001 and Taiwan where sales rose 17% to 5,460.

Japan sales grew 25% to 40,100.

BMW Motorcycles increased sales for the 11 months to the end of November by 6.3% to 95,500 units.
