Audi is asking German factory staff to agree to work on some Sundays in future, in order to guarantee the survival of the company’s German sites, the Financial Times Deutschland said.

The company reportedly said it would like to be able to use Sundays for maintenance and servicing work, as well as during the start-up phase for the production of new models. However, Audi has emphasised that full production will continue to be restricted to six days.

According to the paper, Audi management also wants to cut additional pay and make working hours more flexible by introducing working time accounts that will last for several years.
