Electric vehicle maker Fisker Automotive said the first Karma models will come off Finnish contract assembler Valmet‘s production line on 21 March.

The first batch of vehicles will be delivered to the California-based firm’s global importers and retailers in late April. This will allow vehicles to be driven by deposit holders and prospective customers.

Fisker said production will be ramped up at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki facility with Fisker aiming to achieve full capacity by October. The autommaker wants to deliver vehicles to all current deposit holders in 2011.

The Karma initially will be sold at 45 locations in the USA as well as in Europe and, later, China. Other variants, including a convertible, are planned and Fisker is preparing to build a second, lower-priced model line in its recently acquired factory in Wilmington, Delaware, in 2012.
