Valeo has been awarded “significant contracts” by Volkswagen for the new Golf V, worth over €1.5 billion over the anticipated life of the vehicle, and says that volume components supplies have now commenced.

The products and systems sourced from Valeo include compact HVAC (heat, vent, air conditioning) systems with individually adjustable air temperature controls, the rear light units, radiators and front-end modules. Valeo also supplies its new compact, high power TG alternators and a new range of compact starter motors with claimed best-in-class power to weight ratio. The Golf V also has Valeo-made external side door handles and steering column locks.

Volkswagen is one of Valeo’s five largest customers. Company technical centres in France, Germany and the Czech Republic were involved in the Golf contracts and most of the components are produced in Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic.
