PSA Peugeot Citroën and auto equipment manufacturer Siemens VDO Automotive have signed a partnership agreement to implement a technological innovation plan.

The plan covers three major areas of research – powertrains, with a focus on a shared, modular engine control software platform for both diesel and petrol engines; emission control systems; and electrical/electronic architecture, with a focus on the integration of the AUTOSAR concept (group of carmakers and automotive equipment manufacturers designed to formulise a standard protocol in electronics), enhancing systems reliability, developing the secure data transfer protocol; and comfort and driver support systems.
