Peugeot says it is completing the engine line-up on the 308 by adding its new PureTech 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The company says that in official witnessed tests, it has been shown to achieve new records for fuel economy: 99.1mpg and 1124.7 miles on a full tank of fuel.
The new engine, Peugeot says, boasts a new compact design, is powerful and highly-efficiency utilising the latest technologies. This technology includes high-pressure direct injection (200 bar) of the fuel system and a new generation high performance turbocharger (turning at 240,000 rev/min), representing a “real technological breakthrough”.
