Volkswagen Brazil has introduced an exclusive locally-built Polo with 79bhp one-litre 16-valve engine for the low-tax ‘popular car’ segement, writes Rogério Louro.


The new version is produced in the Anchieta plant, São Bernardo do Campo city, São Paulo state, on the same assembly line as the 1.6 and two-litre models.


Entry-level Polos in other markets have a 1.2-litre engine.
