General Motors of Brazil has introduced a voluntary redundancy programme open to all 4,000 of its white collar workers, writes Rogerio Louro Alves.

GM won’t say how many workers it plans to cut through the programme that is part of the car maker’s cost-cutting restructuring plan.

The programme is open until 31 October.

Meanwhile, in Argentina, GM has been more rigid about reducing costs – 102 workers were fired last week.
