The Czech News Digest reports that Czech carmaker Skoda Auto has reduced the daily production of the Skoda Superb model to 80 from 100, it was reported on April 30, 2003.
The company transferred part of its workforce from the plant in Kvasiny, eastern Czech Republic, to the plant in Mlada Boleslav, central Bohemia. It plans to lay off 10 employees, who refused to re-qualify, according to the report.
The company introduced the Skoda Superb model in 2002. It reduced the daily production of Skoda Superb for the first time in September 2002 to 100 units from 150. Skoda Auto plans to sell 25,000 cars of the model in 2003, compared to 16,700 in 2002. The company sold 5,628 cars of the model in the first quarter of 2003, 2,500 of which were sold in March.
