Continental has expanded turbocharger production at its Czech location in Trutnov, while systems for other customers are being produced in Lahr, among them what the company says is the world’s first turbocharger with an aluminium turbine housing.

“Gasoline engines with a turbocharger represent a clear growth market in which we have secured ourselves a strong position within a very short time, thanks to innovative products,” said Head of the Engine Systems Business Unit in the Powertrain Division, Wolfgang Breuer.

“In the coming years, we are expecting this market segment to grow by double-digit percentage figures worldwide. This market thus presents us with outstanding opportunities to expand our business – particularly in Asia, but also in North America and Europe.

“After the production launch in Trutnov, we are planning to expand our production in China and North America as well.”
