Toyota confirmed on Monday that more than 50 employees were injured in the huge explosions that destroyed part of the Tianjin port in China last week.

The injured lived and were employed in various operations in the port area. The carmaker also confirmed that its Tianjin assembly plant, which makes the Vios and Corolla models, was closed all of last week due to annual holidays.

The plant is located some 70km away from the port, but is expected to be closed for much of this week due to disruption to supplier operations located in the evacuation area. Two Toyota dealerships were also damaged in the blast.
