Tianjin Automobile Xiali Corp. is to double its current output of compact cars
to 20,000 units per year.
Manufactured by China’s Tianjin Auto Group and Japan’s Toyota in north China’s
coastal city of Tianjin, the first batch of the new type of Xiali vehicle rolled
off the production line on December 14, 2000.
The new car has attracted over 10,000 orders, worth over 300 million yuan (35
million U.S. dollars) over the past two months.
By the end of this year, the company is also expected to develop a two-compartment
new model called the NBCI, targeting young female drivers.
