Peugeot is the latest western manufacturer to report growing sales in China as buyers turn away from Japanese models in the fall-out over the disputed Diaoyu islands.

September sales at Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën, a 50-50 joint venture, were 42,728 units, up 9.2% year-on-year and up 32% month-on-month, the company said in a statement.

Sales in the first three quarters also hit a record high of 312,728 units, up 7.1%.
