Nissan has received approval from China’s government to sell its electric Leaf in China.

Kimiyasu Nakamura, president of Nissan’s China joint venture, told reporters that the car could also eventually be made in China.

“The Leaf does not hit the Chinese market’s sweet spot now, in terms of price, but that will change as unit sales grow,” Nakamura told Reuters.

The Reuters report added that Nissan is also planning a lower-priced electric vehicle specifically for the Chinese market.
