Brilliance China Automotive Holdings sold 4,000 BMW joint venture cars in its total of 104,218 vehicles for 2003.


According to Reuters, the joint venture started manufacturing BMW 5-series models in China only at the end of October.


The sales figure also included 25,600 Zhonghua saloons, a home-grown model launched in 2002, and 74,618 Jinbei minibuses.


Reuters said the minibus sales rose 14.55% from 65,138 units in 2002 while Zhonghua sales almost tripled the 8,816 units recorded in the five months from the launch of the model in August 2002.
