Following claims that first Shanghai, and then Guangzhou, would be China’s ‘Motor City’, now Northeast China’s Jilin Province is making a bid to be China’s Detroit, according to the Access Asia website.
The report said Jilin’s Luyuan District has been chosen as the site for the Changchun Auto Industrial Park, scheduled for completion within three to five years. The park will be home to businesses involved in vehicle making, sales, service, warehousing and logistics, training and vehicle-related recreation.
While Guangzhou and Shanghai have concentrated on car production the northeast has concentrated on truck production, Access Asia said.
