Any ideas that the Guangzhou Honda Chinese joint venture between Denway Motor and Honda Japan will remain relatively low volume at 50,000 units a year have been dispelled by reports that say that the JV will quadruple output to 200,000 units by 2005.

Guangzhou Honda built 33,607 Accord sedans in the first eight months of 2001, and the extra volume from the new V6 version recently added could see it hit over 50,000 for the full year, compared with around 30,000 units for 2000.

Guangzhou Honda will utilise the planned 200,000 capacity by boosting Accord output and extending its range with the Odyssey minivan next year and a small car in 2003.
