China launched foreign-funded car parts projects with investment totalling US $8.665 billion last year; say Asian news sources (7/11/00). According to AsiaPort Daily News - quoting China's Association of Automakers - the country launched 444 projects. Contractual foreign investment in the ventures totalled US $2.471 billion, averaging US $5.57 million each.
