Westport Innovations said on Tuesday that it has reached a new product development deal with Ford, this time involving hydrogen-fuelled engines, Reuters reported.

The news agency said the Vancouver-based technology firm will supply Ford with a hydrogen-specific version of the fuel injectors Westport has developed to power diesel and light-duty engines with natural gas. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Reuters noted that Westport and Ford had worked together on the light-duty natural gas engine project, but the deal expired last year when the vehicle maker cut spending on some of its alternative energy development efforts.
