Thousands of Canadian Auto Workers union members at Ford Canada facilities will vote this Saturday and Sunday on the three-year tentative agreement reached earlier this week with the company.
Results of the voting will be published on Sunday afternoon, the CAW said.
The union rank and file is expected to approve the three-year Ford contract which is similar to one workers at General Motors of Canada ratified recently.
Workers will get a 3% wage increase in the first two years and 2% in the third year as well as a $C1,000 ($US633.00) signing bonus, 28 hours of additional paid time off and improved healthcare benefits.
The agreement should also ensure the future of Ford’s Oakville truck plant until 2004 before many workers are offered jobs at an adjoining factory.
