Avis Canada announced an increase in car rental rates of CDN$3.00 per day and CDN$20.00 per week, effective today, with the increase applying to all rentals other than those covered by corporate account agreements or other special arrangements.
In making the announcement, William Boxberger, Vice President & General Manager of Avis Canada, said the car rental industry’s rates over the last five years have not kept pace with increased costs for vehicles, wages, fuel and facilities.
“Even with these kinds of increases,” Boxberger said, “Canadian car rental rates remain among the lowest in the world. Still, we are committed to providing outstanding service to customers, and must make the necessary capital investments and technological advances to maintain product quality, speed of delivery and technological leadership. Because these challenges are industrywide, I believe we will see pricing increases from other car rental companies in Canada.”
