Soon after announcing expansion in Europe, the start of sales here in the UK, and entry into Jordan, its first Middle East market, BYD‘s relentless march into new territory is continuing with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The automaker announced it had appointed distributor Al-Futtaim to handle the EV brand and a signing ceremony was held during a Future Mobility Day event in Dubai.

The Han and Atto 3 were unveiled and BYD said it would provide more details by the end of the year of its plans to launch four models (EVs and plug-in hybrids). A dedicated product launch was also planned for the third quarter.

AD Huang, general manager, BYD Middle East & North Africa, said: “Al-Futtaim’s reputation for excellent customer service and world class products made them the obvious choice [as our] partner in the region.”
