Mitsubishi Motors wants to start producing Mirage compact models in China by 2014, a top company official said.
Production is getting under way in Thailand; the car is not produced in Japan.

President Osamu Masuko told Reuters at the Beijing show Mitsubishi aims for at least 100,000 annual sales of the Mirage a year in China.
The company has targeted China sales of 300,000 in 2015 compared with 164,000 in 2011.
