Analysis shows that Volkswagen and Toyota remained masters of platform strategies in 2007. A significant development is that the Renault-Nissan Alliance is now finally starting to take full advantage of sharing technologies across its brands, and now has two platforms in the top ten ranking. This is the latest edition of our annual review of the world’s top manufacturing platforms. Using the latest data gathered by The PwC Automotive Institute, the briefing shows the top ten platforms’ volumes from 2004 to 2007, ranks the top 50 platforms’ 2005 to 2007 volume data and provides analysis of the top platforms from the likes of Volkswagen, Toyota, Renault, Ford, GM and Honda.
