VW's electric ID. Tiguan will succeed the ID.4 and ID.5 in 2027.

Volkswagen has officially unveiled the new ID. Tiguan for the first time. It will succeed the current ID.4 and ID.5 models.

Following the ID. Polo and ID. Cross, Volkswagen is now bringing its third major model range name into the all-electric ID family with the new ID. Tiguan variant.

The electrically powered ID. Tiguan will be launched as early as the beginning of 2027 – in parallel to the current Tiguan with petrol, diesel and hybrid drives.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, Head of the Brand Group Core and member of the Group Board of Management said: “The Tiguan is our best-selling model worldwide, and the ID.4 and ID.5 are among our most successful electric cars. The ID. Tiguan brings these two success stories together. A pure, confident design with the presence of a vehicle from the next class up, intuitive operation and, thanks to MEB+, a range of up to 600 kilometres: a new benchmark for our electric SUVs made in Germany. Together with the Tiguan from Wolfsburg, the ID. Tiguan from Emden is part of one of the strongest SUV duos in Europe.”

The Tiguan is currently the best-selling model worldwide for both the Volkswagen brand and the Volkswagen Group.

In the past year alone, deliveries of the Tiguan and its sister model, the Tayron, exceeded one million units. Both models are available with petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

In the all-electric segment, the ID.4 and its fastback counterpart, the ID.5, are also highly successful. With more than 950,000 units delivered since 2021, they rank among the most successful battery-electric vehicle (BEV) model series of Volkswagen AG.
