Hyundai Motor Company launched an electric vehicle (EV) charging subscription service for its customers in Indonesia this week. The service provides owners of Hyundai battery electric vehicles (BEVs) such as the Kona Electric and Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 with access to 518 chargers at 288 charging stations operated by Hyundai and its partners across Indonesia.

The service can be purchased via the company’s mobile app, which offers charging plans of 50 kWh, 100 kWh and 250 kWh. Customers who purchased their Hyundai BEVs after September are eligible for discounts on their purchases for up to one year.

The company confirmed that starting from January 2025, the subscription service will also be made available to owners of BEVs of other brands.

Lee Joo-hoon, the head of Hyundai Motor Indonesia, told local reporters: “We aim to contribute to the growth of Indonesia's local EV ecosystem through our subscription service and the expansion of charging infrastructure”.

Hyundai sold fewer than 2,000 BEVs in Indonesia in the first ten months of 2024, down from a little over 6,000 units in the same period of as year, despite the launch of the locally-made Kona Electric model in July. The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models are also assembled locally.
