Volkswagen Group said July 2019 sales worldwide slipped 2.4% to 886,100 vehicles.

Europe deliveries fell 3.6% to 393,600 vehicles, as expected, as the July 2018 tally had been especially high as a result of the WLTP changeover.

In North America (-0.9%) and Asia-Pacific (-0.3%), deliveries were "slightly below the levels for July 2018."

South America  sales rose 3.2%.

Global sales chief Christian Dahlheim said: "The Volkswagen Group has made a solid start to the second half of the year and has once again slightly increased its market share in a global market that is generally shrinking. It is especially gratifying to note that we have grown in our most important market, China, despite the general downward trend in the market."

In Europe, VW Group brands delivered 393,600 vehicles, an expected slip of 3.6% inflated by 2018 WLTP effects.
