In the first three months of 2016, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles delivered 113,100 vehicles to customers worldwide, a year on year growth of 4.3%. March deliveries rose 0.8% to 46,100.

The brand delivered 28,000 units (+3.7%) in the first quarter. Growth was particularly high in the European core markets of Italy (+40.2% to 2,900 vehicles), Spain (+27.7% to 3,100) and France (+17.6% to 4,600).

Deliveries in Eastern Europe rose 2.6% to 8,000 vehicles and in South America by 4.1% to 9,600.

Markets in Africa (-29.7%), Asia-Pacific (-9.1%) and the Middle East (-0.5%) saw a fall in sales.

Sales and marketing chief Bram Schot said: “Markets in southern and western Europe are recovering again” and expects “continued positive development of the brand for the whole of 2016.”

The situation in regions without such strong economies remains challenging.
