Vehicle software company Sonatus has bolstered its presence in Germany with the launch of new office in Frankfurt.

This move is part of the company’s strategic expansion to provide local expertise and support to major OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers in Germany.

The Frankfurt office will act as a strategic hub for Sonatus’ operations in Germany, facilitating closer collaboration with local automotive manufacturers and suppliers.

This new office is expected to strengthen customer relationships, scales offerings, and drives growth amid rising demand for software-defined vehicle solutions.

Furthermore, Sonatus has appointed Marcus Bortel as the director of business development, focusing on German car manufacturers.

Bortel has over two decades of experience in the embedded market and a decade in the automotive sector.

His previous role was at KPIT as senior sales director, where he managed sales for the KPIT-ZF joint venture. He has also held senior positions at Elektrobit and has experience with QNX and Wind River.

Joining the team as global account manager is Peter Palasthy, who will concentrate on building strategic relationships with German Tier-1 suppliers.

Palasthy brings a wealth of experience from a 25-year career at Continental, where he was responsible for overseeing €27m in global projects as head of project administration at Continental Autonomous Mobility.

His background also includes roles as key account manager, managing major OEMs such as Suzuki and Toyota.

The expansion also includes the addition of Dominik Biber as senior pre-sales engineer.

Biber’s 15-year tenure in the automotive industry includes roles at QNX, where he served as head of EMEA auto field application engineering, and at Continental, where he was a software project manager for an autonomous driving project.

In December 2024, Sonatus partnered with Smart Eye, a provider of AI-powered Driver Monitoring and Interior Sensing solutions.

This collaboration combines Sonatus’s advanced SDV infrastructure, including Sonatus Automator AI, with Smart Eye’s expertise in driver and occupant monitoring to help OEMs deliver personalised and safer driving experiences.
