Auburn Hills, Michigan: DaimlerChrysler’s Jeep division has confirmed that
the all-new 2002 Jeep – which goes into production next spring and will be
launched in the United States in the summer – will be named Liberty.

The Liberty will be produced at DaimlerChrysler’s new state-of-the-art
Toledo (Ohio) North Assembly Plant, located across the street from the original
plant where the company currently churns out Cherokees and Wranglers.

“Jeep engineers are hard at work putting the finishing touches on what
is going to be a great new Jeep vehicle built in the shadow of where it all
started 60 years ago,” said Craig Love, vice president Jeep platform engineering
at DaimlerChrysler.
