Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America, has announced (11/12/00)
a voluntary safety recall campaign on certain 2000 and 2001 model year QX4 sport
utility vehicles manufactured from October 1, 1999 to March 22, 2000. Approximately
9,200 vehicles are involved in the campaign.

On some QX4 vehicles manufactured during this period, the ignition lock cylinder
cap could come loose and eventually cause the steering wheel lock to engage
preventing the driver from turning the steering wheel. No accidents have occurred
due to this malfunction.

Infiniti retailers will inspect and replace ignition lock assemblies on affected
vehicles with loose or missing end cap connector pins and a ring clip will be
installed on all other affected vehicles to prevent loosening of the pins.

The recall does not apply to the similar Nissan Pathfinder.
