With Chrysler once again in money-losing mode, the Neon, says a source close to
the company, could end up being being built by Hyundai, says a BusinessWire report.
With DaimlerChrysler desperate to cut costs, its Chrysler unit (which owns
10% of Hyundai) is open to any idea, says Richard Schaum, Chrysler product-development
executive VP. And that includes sharing parts and vehicle platforms.
Schaum wouldn’t comment on the Neon, but Chrysler may build next-generation
Neons with Hyundai — perhaps as soon as the 2005 model year.
