Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH) today announced three strategic appointments in its global manufacturing operations group which will further strengthen Delphi’s global manufacturing strategy.

Odail Thorns is named business line executive for Halfshafts and Aftermarket at Delphi’s Saginaw Steering Systems division in Saginaw, Mich.; D. Scott Mitchell is promoted to general director, Manufacturing Operations, also for Delphi Steering; and Dave Logozzo is promoted to director, Manufacturing Operations, for Delphi Automotive Systems World Headquarters in Troy, Mich. Mark Lorenz, Delphi vice president of Operations & Logistics, made the announcement.

“Odail, Scott and Dave bring almost 100 years of combined manufacturing experience to our global operations staff,” said Lorenz. “These individuals will continue to enhance our lean manufacturing operations efforts in their new roles and we’re proud to have them on our team.”

Thorns has more than 35 years of experience with Delphi and has held positions in manufacturing, engineering and personnel with Delphi Steering, Delco Remy and the former Automotive Components Group. Prior to his new position, he was general director, Manufacturing Operations, for Delphi Steering. In his new position, he will also assume Delphi Steering responsibility for Manufacturing Planning and service parts activities. A native of Arkansas, Thorns is a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and has completed the executive development program at Harvard University.

Mitchell has 26 years of experience with Delphi and has held positions in manufacturing and personnel with AC Spark Plug, Delphi Chassis Systems, Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems. He also held positions within General Motors’ Corporate Industrial Relations staff. Prior to his new position, he was director of manufacturing operations for Delphi Automotive Systems World Headquarters. A native of Grand Blanc, Mich., Mitchell holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in business administration from Michigan State University.

Logozzo, a 31-year veteran of Delphi, has held positions in manufacturing and engineering at Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems and the former New Departure Hyatt. He was also chief engineer and business line manager at the former General Motors AC Rochester Division. Logozzo was also international operations manager and champion of the exhaust business team at the former Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems division. Prior to his new position, he was manager of lean manufacturing systems at Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems in Flint, Mich. A native of Meriden, Conn., Logozzo holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the former General Motors Institute (presently Kettering University) in Flint, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
