Covisint has announced the addition of NexPrise and Engineering Animation, Inc. (EAI) to its family of best-of-breed technology providers for the planned global trading exchange. Covisint Collaboration, a key tool in Covisint’s Release 1.0 suite of products will be powered by NexPrise’s award-winning ipTeam(TM) platform and given visualization by EAI’s industry-leading e-Vis(TM), an Internet-enabled collaboration solution. Covisint Collaboration will allow customers to manage product development projects across the Internet through private and secure virtual project workspaces.
This service offering will enable the integration and synchronization of key program decisions and knowledge sharing for product development teams distributed across geographies, organizations and supply chains. The addition of the NexPrise/EAI solution demonstrates Covisint’s ability to seamlessly integrate specific solutions within the overall structure of the product offering developed by the Covisint Technology Partners, Commerce One and Oracle.
The functionality of Covisint Collaboration features secure file sharing, workflow management, real time task tracking, CAD-agnostic visual collaboration tools, virtual conferencing, application sharing and a multi- media notebook to capture discussions for decision management and knowledge sharing.
In addition, NexPrise and EAI will complement buy-side and sell-side functionality by supporting Covisint Quote Management, a suite of tools for document management, inter-enterprise management and the collaborative bidding process, including request for quote (RFQ) management and strategic sourcing.
“It was important that Covisint’s first suite of products address the need for collaborative product development. We believe the use of the Internet will enable product development teams to achieve significant improvements in time-to-market, innovation, quality and cost. We look forward to working with our customers very closely to support their future needs in this important area,” said Bob Matulka, Covisint Product Development Team.
“NexPrise ipTeam is flexible and robust enough to support product development needs immediately without requiring significant investments or disruptions to existing legacy tools,” continued Matulka. “In addition, EAI’s two- and three-dimensional visualization supports all major CAD systems currently used in the automotive industry allowing collaboration by many partners. Both providers also offered the commitment of leading software providers to complement Covisint’s vision to accelerate and enable automotive e-Business.”
