Covisint today announced the creation of two new strategic business units (SBUs), each of which will have direct P&L responsibility and accountability.

The strategic sourcing unit will support Covisint’s efforts to advance adoption of its global sourcing suite, including auctions & sourcing services, catalogues, quote manager and asset management.
The new unit aims to offer the best performing, best priced suite of sourcing products to the global automotive industry.
Mark Duhaime, 43, currently senior vice president, product development, has been named the acting senior vice president and general manager of the unit. A search is in place for a senior automotive purchasing executive to fill the role permanently At which time Duhaime will take on another role.
The portal & connectivity unit will support the development and deployment of key Covisint products including portal, automotive messaging, global industry directory, collaboration and fulfillment modules. The unit will also identify and develop new products and services.

The creation of these new strategic business units has resulted in the “reassignment” of a number of North American Covisint employees “in order to apply their talents to areas more directly tied to revenue generation and customer relationship management”, the company said in a statement.
“The streamlining also affected some Covisint employees and temporary contractors, who have been released from the company,” the statement added.
But Covisint said it was still recruiting employees for global sales and strategic sourcing.
