Collins & Aikman Corporation (NYSE:CKC) today announced the promotion of two key Human Resource professionals.

Robert Lambert is promoted to Vice President Human Resources for the Company’s Southern Operations and William Slykas, currently Vice President of the Company’s Dura Convertible Systems Division will assume additional responsibility for the Company’s Mexican Human Resources function. Making the announcement on behalf of Collins & Aikman, Greg Tinnell, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, remarked, “Our efforts to put in place highly skilled human resource professionals demonstrates that Collins & Aikman is committed to the personal growth and development of all our associates.”

Prior to his promotion, Lambert was the Director of Human Resources for Southern Operations. Lambert, who joined the Company in 1984 as human resource manager for Collins & Aikman’s Farmville, N.C. facility, will be located at the Company’s Corporate Service Center located in Charlotte, N.C. A graduate of North Carolina State University, he holds a bachelor’s of science degree in textile chemistry.

Slykas, as Vice President of Human Resources for Collins & Aikman’s Dura Convertible Systems, will assume additional responsibility for the human resources activities for the Company’s Mexican operations. Collins & Aikman has facilities in Queretaro, Monterrey, Puebla and Toluca, Mexico, approximately 700 individuals. Slykas will be located at the division’s facilities located in Adrian, Mich.

Slykas, a graduate of Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Ind., joined Collins & Aikman in 1991 as Director of Human Resources for its Dura Convertible Systems Division. Prior to joining Collins & Aikman, Slykas was employed with General Electric in industrial relations.

In making today’s announcements, Tinnell said, “Both these individuals have exceptional professional human resources skills and experience. I am confident that their demonstrated leadership skills will help us leverage one of our competitive advantages-our people-as we continue to build our future.”
