Asbury Automotive Group, the third largest dealership group in the United States, today announced the appointments of Joan F. Krey to Associate General Counsel and Phil Johnson to the newly created position of Vice President of Human Resources. Both will report directly to Brian Kendrick, President and Chief Executive Officer of Asbury Automotive Group.
Ms. Krey, 55, will be responsible for all legal matters regarding consumer protection, marketing, employment and government relations. Ms. Krey has 24 years of business law experience with leading corporations and law practice. From 1985 to 1999, she was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Saks Fifth Avenue (Saks Holdings, Inc.) a NYSE-listed company with $2.4 billion in sales and 12,000 employees. From 1975 to 1984, Ms. Krey was an attorney in the antitrust, trade regulation and litigation practice of the New York law firm of Weil Gotshal & Manges, where she concentrated on consumer protection, marketing and antitrust regulatory and litigation matters. Ms. Krey received her undergraduate degree from Brown University and her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she was a member of the Board of Editors of the Law Review. From 1992 to 1999, she served on the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan New York.
Mr. Johnson, 51, will be leading the Company’s effort to develop and attract highly talented professionals in the automotive retailing industry. Mr. Johnson brings more than 20 years of human resources experience in department store retailing and technology companies including Gimbels, Marshall Fields, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s and Entex Information Services. Most recently, he was with Entex information Services as Senior Vice President of Human Resources from 1994 to 1998. Mr. Johnson received a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA, both from the University of Florida.
