Novelis has announced a deal with General Motors to supply aluminium sheet for the bonnet [hood] of the 2008 Buick Enclave.
The company claims world leadership as a supplier of high performance aluminium sheet for use in automotive applications.
The Enclave, Buick’s first luxury crossover SUV, is receiving positive reviews in the automotive media for its upscale refinement and design. “Enclave is the best looking Buick to hit the streets in years,” AutoWeek magazine said.
“We are proud to have been selected as the aluminium supplier on this trend-setting vehicle,” said Buddy Stemple, vice president and general manager of specialty products for Novelis North America.
“This is one more example of how aluminium sheet can add beauty and value to today’s vehicles.”

By GlobalDataThe Enclave is a cousin to GMC’s popular Acadia crossover vehicle, which also features an aluminium hood made with Novelis sheet. Both vehicles are built on GM’s all-new Lambda unibody architecture.
Lightweight and strong, aluminium is being used increasingly to improve vehicle performance, increase fuel economy and reduce tailpipe emissions in today’s vehicles, according to the supplier.
“As the nation debates alternatives for improved fuel economy and energy independence,” added Stemple, “aluminium can play a role in helping to achieve those goals.”
Aluminium sheet for the Enclave and the Acadia is supplied from Novelis manufacturing plants in Oswego, New York, and Kingston, Ontario.
