The Enclave is a cousin to GMC’s popular Acadia crossover vehicle, which also features an aluminium hood made with Novelis sheet. Both vehicles are built on GM’s all-new Lambda unibody architecture.


Lightweight and strong, aluminium is being used increasingly to improve vehicle performance, increase fuel economy and reduce tailpipe emissions in today’s vehicles, according to the supplier.


“As the nation debates alternatives for improved fuel economy and energy independence,” added Stemple, “aluminium can play a role in helping to achieve those goals.”


Aluminium sheet for the Enclave and the Acadia is supplied from Novelis manufacturing plants in Oswego, New York, and Kingston, Ontario.
