General Motors is to develop and test 22 active safety technologies across its 2016 model year US line-ups at its new US$14m proving ground near Detroit.

“Our comprehensive safety strategy of helping customers before, during and after a crash continues,” said GM Global Vehicle Safety vice president, Jeff Boyer.

“GM historically has been a leader in the development and testing of safety technologies and applying our knowledge and expertise to prevent crashes from happening in the first place.”

The active safety technologies will be demonstrated for Cadillac, Buick, GMC and Chevrolet models.
