The second round of General Motors‘ executive reshuffle, announced today, will see the head of Holden in Australia moving back to Detroit to head global product development.
Mark Reuss, most recently president and managing director of Holden, will become vice president, global vehicle engineering, replacing both Jim Queen (global engineering) and Ed Koerner (engineering) who retire on 1 October.
Reuss, 45, joined GM in 1983 as a student intern in the noise and vibration laboratory and worked in a variety of vehicle development positions before joining Holden in 2008. GM noted he is “a long-time performance car enthusiast… certified for the famed Nürburgring circuit in Germany”.
GM also named Mary Barra, currently head of global manufacturing engineering, to take charge of personnel worldwide from 1 October. She replaces Katy Barclay who retires that day.
GM Europe’s current manufacturing chief Eric Stevens will soon head global manufacturing engineering, replacing Barra.
Powertrain manufacturing chief John Buttermore will run manufacturing for GM International Operations.
Walt Dorfstatter will move to head telematics unit OnStar, replacing retiring president Chet Huber.
Jon Lauckner, currently head of global programme management, will become vice president of global product planning. Terry Woychowski replaces Lauckner.
Denny Mooney, head of global vehicle systems and integration, and Reuss’ predecessor at Holden is to retire as will Gary White, head of large trucks in North America.
“Today’s announcements, in addition to the moves that we’ve announced throughout the month of July, complete the changes to GM’s senior leadership team,” said GM CEO Fritz Henderson.
