Global vehicle sales increased year-over-year for the 13th consecutive month in July, according to data issued by WardsAuto.
To the end of July, Ward’s estimates world vehicle sales at 50.2 m units, 2.6% ahead of the same period of last year.
Looking across the world, Ward’s said that gains in North America and Asia helped to keep the global total in positive territory.
Sales in North America were up 9.6% in July, with some 1.7m vehicles sold, accounting for just over a quarter of the global market.
In Asia, sales were up in China (+6.5%) and India (+2%) but fell in Japan (-2.5%).
July vehicle sales in Europe were off 0.7% against last year, Ward’s said.
