Daimler Vans USA (DVUSA) is recalling 40,061 2007-2008 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 and 3500 and 2006-2008 Dodge Sprinter 2500 and 3500 vehicles manufactured from 1 July 2005 to 31 July 2008.

The affected vehicles are equipped with a passenger side frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture upon its deployment.

In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front passenger’s frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the passenger seat occupant or other occupants possibly causing serious injury or death.

Dealers will replace the passenger air bag inflator, free of charge.
